The owner of 900 Degrees pizzeria is expanding her business into Portsmouth, which will mark the restaurant company’s third location.
In 2007, Priscilla Lane-Rondeau opened 900 Degrees on Dow Street in Manchester. The restaurant was a hit, and in 2013 she opened a second location at Brickyard Square in Epping. Since then, Lane-Rondeau has been getting requests to open in locations throughout the state, including Concord and Nashua, but she never set out to start a restaurant chain.
“I just wanted to bring a good wood-fired pizza to Manchester,” she said.
Lane-Rondeau decided to open her third restaurant near Water Country on Lafayette Road because she found a spot close to where new affordable apartments are being built. She saw the opportunity to be part of a work/play community.
“The people we’re targeting are more local people,” Lane-Rondeau said.
In addition to being part of a neighborhood, Lane-Rondeau is looking forward to taking on some sustainability initiatives that aren’t currently available to her in Manchester and Epping. Lane-Rondeau said she has always wanted to compost but couldn’t. She set up a Thursday meeting to talk to developers about a green area behind the restaurant.
Lane-Rondeau is also considering gardening to harvest fresh vegetables for the restaurant’s pizza and other dishes. In addition to serving wood-fired pizza, 900 Degrees serves soups, salads, sandwiches and fresh pasta.
